See Frederick's charming downtown, historic cemetery and beautiful parks on this fantastic self-guided walking tour.

Frederick Md Visitors Center:
Our self-guided walking tour kicks off at the Frederick Visitors Center. This welcome center is a great place to learn about about Frederick's history, attractions and activities you can enjoy while visiting this lovely historic town.
Parking is available at the East All Saints Garage, located just around the corner from the visitors center. Remember to bring your parking ticket to the front desk for validation to receive 3 free hours of parking.
Mount Olivet Cemetery:
Next, you will head to Mount Olivet Cemetery, known as Frederick's "garden cemetery". This historic cemetery was established in 1854 and is home to the gravesites of Francis Scott Key, the author of the National Anthem; Barbara Fritchie, local Civil War herione, revered in Whittier's poem; and Thomas Johnson, Maryland's first Governor.
Mount Olivet is a beautiful example of a traditional garden cemetery, designed as a welcoming green space for all of its visitors. It's a very diverse, interesting and peaceful cemetery to wander through, featuring over 8 miles of paved paths to explore. We had a great time walking around and taking in all the sights.
Carroll Creek Park:
Now, you'll continue to the gorgeous Carroll Creek Park, a 1.5-mile-long park that winds through the heart of the historic district. It's one of Frederick's favorite spots, featuring beautifully landscaped brick paths perfect for an enjoyable walk with lots to see and do.
While strolling by the lily pad creek, you'll come across cool art installations, stunning water features, and a variety of shops, restaurants and a distillery. This walk is a must-do when visiting Frederick.
Baker Park:
Walking along Carroll Creek will lead you to Baker Park, an awesome urban park surrounded by a historic neighborhood full of lovely homes. This large 58-acre community park has it all: jogging and biking paths, playgrounds, a scenic lake, swimming pool, just to name a few.
Baker Park also hosts numerous community events - check out their calendar for upcoming activities.
Downtown Frederick:
Now it's time to experience the lively downtown district of Frederick. This thriving 50-block historic district is situated around North Market St/South Market St and East Patrick St/West Patrick St.
Frederick has over 200 shops, restaurants, art galleries and breweries, along with amazing architecture everywhere you look. It's such a charming historic town that's well worth the visit!
