South Loop Trail: Waterfront Views Along the South River and Harness Creek
For a shorter loop offering stunning views of the South River and Harness Creek, I recommend hiking the South Loop Trail. This scenic loop is just over 2 miles. I usually park in the lot behind the Blue Heron Center. and walk to the front of the Visitor Center to catch the Holly Pavilion Trail.

South Loop Trail Directions:
Walk from the Blue Heron Center parking lot to the front of the Visitor Center towards the Holly Pavilion Trail.
Take the Holly Pavilion Trail to the South River Overlook Trail.
Backtrack on the South River Overlook Trail and head to the right for the Concert Trail.
The Concert Trail will cross the road just before the Visitor Center and you will follow this back to the parking lot.
Waterfront Overlooks:
On this scenic route you will have the opportunity to enjoy beautiful water views of Harness Creek and the South River. These overlooks are gorgeous any time of year!
Harness Creek Overlook:
The first spectacular view you'll experience on the Holly Pavilion Trail is of Harness Creek. Just off the path, the overlook features a few picnic tables where you can take in the scenery of this charming creek.

South River Overlook & Waterfront Promenade:
One of the park's most breathtaking views is the South River Overlook, which provides a panoramic vista of the South River. This location can be reserved for special occasions, and I've frequently seen wedding ceremonies held at this picturesque spot.

You can also venture down the steps at this overlook to walk along the waterfront promenade. Many people enjoy walking by the water and fishing from the banks.

Dog Parks & Dog Beach:
Quiet Waters Park is very dog-friendly! I often bring my pug here to enjoy nature. Located on the Concert Trail, this park features two large dog parks: one for bigger dogs and a slightly smaller fenced area for smaller dogs.
If you have a water dog, Dog Beach, found near the South River Overlook, lets your pup romp in the water and play on a sandy beach.

North Loop Trail: A Peaceful Forest Walk Through Quiet Waters Park
The North Loop Trail offers a serene, shaded 3-mile hike through the woods. It's the perfect trail to get your body moving while quieting your mind. In my experience, I've never found it to be too crowded, granted I usually visit on weekdays.

For history buffs, Quiet Waters Park has a very interesting past during the colonization of the Americas. The trails are lined with signs that provide insights into the park's history and landscape.
North Loop Trail Directions:
Head into the forest path located on the east side of the Blue Heron parking lot to start the Pavilion Trail.
At the end of the Pavilion Trail (near the entrance to Quiet Waters Park) you will cross the road to continue on the Exercise Trail.
The end of the Exercise Trail will put you near the Vistor Center and Ice Rink area. Cross the road and walk past the pond, ice rink and garden area to. make your way back to the parking lot.
Combine the South & North Loop for the Ultimate Quiet Waters Park Walk
If you're up for a longer hike, combining the South & North Loop offers a truly enjoyable 5-mile walk. This route provides a bit of everything, from stunning waterfront vistas to a peaceful, shady path through the forest.
It's easy to combine the two loops. Feel free to start with either the North or South Loops, but make sure to stay on the outer paths to complete the park's entire perimeter .
